The Peruvian Embassy in Switzerland is very pleased to present the “Guide for Mining Investment in Peru 2020/2021”, whose objective is to attract more foreign investment to Peru.
This guide has been designed to provide the investors with key information to make informed decisions about exploration and development of new mining projects in the country. This publication includes a summary of the Peruvian political structure, its macroeconomic profile, its main indicators of economic development, business climate, business environment and perspectives for the coming years, geological potential, sectorial trends and mining operations in the country. This guide also provides essential information to assist foreign investors to understand Peruvian regulations on investment and, in particular, legal, fiscal and regulatory requirements to develop mining activities in the country.
Peru is considered one of the top ten richest mineral countries in the world. It is one of the world’s biggest producers of base and precious metals. Thus, Peru is the second largest global producer of copper, silver and zinc and the largest producer of gold, lead, zinc and tin in Latin America.
In 2019, mining investments amounted to 6.15 billion US dollars, which exceeded the target of 6. billion US dollars set by the government at the beginning of 2019, with a register of three years of consecutive growth.
